Equine-Assisted
Psychotherapy
Our Approach
Our approach to Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is grounded in compassion, collaboration and the belief that healing happens through connection.
We offer a trauma-informed, experiential model that integrates traditional therapeutic frameworks with the wisdom of the body, the natural environment and the unique relational feedback of horses.
-
Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy is a relationship-centered, experiential form of therapy that takes place outside a traditional office setting. Clients work with a mental health therapist, an equine specialist and horses to explore emotions, patterns, and connections.
Horses offer clear, immediate feedback, helping clients build trust, set boundaries, regulate emotions and gain insight, often before it can be expressed in words.
-
An Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy session takes place outdoors where you’ll be invited to engage in gentle, intentional activities with the horses that are designed to support awareness, regulation, and connection. There’s no “right” way to do the work. The focus is on noticing what comes up for you emotionally and physically, how you relate to the horses and how those experiences reflect patterns in your life and relationships.
The therapist helps you make sense of the experience by offering space for reflection and connection to your treatment goals, while the equine specialist ensures safety and provides insight into the horses’ behavior.Sessions move at your pace, honoring comfort, choice, and safety at all times. Many clients leave feeling more grounded, present and connected.
Equine-Assisted Psychotherapy offers a unique opportunity to explore emotions, boundaries and relationships in real time, often creating insight and change in ways that words alone cannot.
